How does Nugget protect my data?

Nugget stores all credentials in encrypted form so your personal data is protected to the best of our ability. Rest assured that your personal data will never be shared without your consent.

Our servers and APIs are monitored in real-time and have automatic security patching. They also go through periodic audits and penetration tests, which are conducted by our partner, Horangi Cyber Security. They are equipped with the industry’s de-facto and best cyber security certifications (including ​CREST​​) to conduct comprehensive checks on our security measures.

At app level, all our code is also peer reviewed to make sure we practise secure and defensive coding practices. 


Why do I have to sync my bank account?

Syncing your bank account allows Nugget to pull and analyse your financial data and give you an automated weekly budget. This eliminates the need for you to enter your transactions manually, making it easier to keep track of your spending.


How does Nugget pull my transactions?

Nugget partners with a third-party company called SaltEdge to handle all the data we get from your bank. The company provides bank level security and sophisticated encryption algorithms to ensure that user data is always protected. Your data is retrieved in a read-only mode, which means that Nugget can only view your transactions. Nugget cannot edit your transactions in any way.


Can Nugget access the money in my bank accounts?

The app cannot physically access or move any money within your bank accounts. Nugget only analyses the financial data that’s retrieved from your bank and sets up virtual partitions so that you can visualise your savings and what’s needed for your monthly budget easily.


Can the sync process be shortened?

The sync process takes up to 7 minutes in total to sync your account. Due to regulatory limitations set by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, users have to go through a 2-factor authentication process each time. However, rest assured that we’re working towards shortening this process by setting up direct links with the local banks.


Why can’t I see my latest credit card transactions? 

Merchants often batch all their credit card transactions before sending them off to the credit network. As such, there’s sometimes a processing delay between the merchant, the credit network (Visa, MasterCard) and the bank. Unfortunately, this might result in new transactions not showing up immediately.


How is the weekly budget calculated?

When you first sync your bank account, you will be asked to confirm your salary, monthly bills, and how much you want to save each month. The amount that’s left over is how much you can spend without eating into your monthly commitments. 

Nugget breaks this amount down to give you weekly spending targets. We do this by dividing your spending money by the number of days in a month, multiplied by the number of days in any given week. 


My transaction was categorised wrongly. Can I change it?

Yes, you can do that by tapping on the transaction type button. A panel will pop up from the bottom that allows you to choose the correct transaction type. 


Can I dismiss spending insights?

Nugget’s proprietary algorithm analyses all your transactional data to pick up insights on your spending behaviour. They appear below the relevant transaction, and you can choose to dismiss a specific insight if you no longer want to be notified of that particular habit. We won’t show you that insight again after you swipe left on that insight and click on the delete button.


Do I have to pay to use Nugget?

No, Nugget is 100% free to use. 


How does Nugget make money?

Nugget plans to use an affiliate revenue model in the future, which works by promoting relevant products to our users. We will then collect a commission on product sales if our users end up purchasing something from our partners. 


Can I delete my Nugget account?

Of course. We’ll be sad to see you go, but you can choose to delete your Nugget account at any time. All the information we have from your account will be deleted along with it. Please email us at with your email and password and we’ll get that done for you.
